Why I'm getting ready to leave this site for good

This is a great site. I am new to the game and the resources to help develop a deeper understanding of the game are second to none. If I am reading the original post correctly I hope that the spirit of the comments is meant to encourage everyone to improve the site, if not then time to go.

I still think its the best; be patient. I play on 6 sites.

This website is out of control.  How are you supposed to get paying members when you don't moderate the traffic on the site?  It's almost to the point now where it's unbearable.  There is no reason for 100 people to sit around waiting for midnight so they can post "first" and "easy" and "i'm so incredible that I did this is .5 seconds" etc on the daily puzzles.

Chess.com, please get yourself under control.  You are not the only place on the internet for chess conversation or puzzles or online play.  You are, however, quickly becoming my least favorite.

Your domain is worth over a quarter of a million dollars.  Start moderating the forums.

If you not a paying member ,so  sh-up

I.m not either,but I,m not complaying

You are not right! Everyone has equal rights to features that are available for him. So do we about some wish lists and even complaining.

How can you complain something ,when you are a free-rider

Welcome to one of the last vestiges of the Freedom of Speech - The internet. One of the most overlooked and underappreciated advantages of that specific freedom is the freedom to simply not listen.

"you will always fail to please 10% of the people. if you change something to please some people, other people will invariably be upset by it. for example, if we started having a heavier hand in the forums as called for here, then surely some people would decry Chess.com as being too harsh in moderation. we would only succeed in moving around who is in that 10%."

----------------

That logic is a bit flawed. It basically leads to "Whatever we do, some people will be displeased.  So why should we do anything at all?" type of thinking.

I've seen many discussion forums which are strictly moderated, stuff like "lololol" is deleted (althrough it very rarely appears) and nobody complains.

Having said that, I am mostly here to play chess. Sometimes I feel the need to post "lololololol" stuff in public too, and for that I go to the Chess.com forums. Wink Also, you can still find a moderately interesting thread or two here.

And, frankly, I find "That site sucks! I'm leaving" threads just rude.

oops wrong thread..sorry

LoneWolfEburg

Ok, no offense taken. Smile

Tom

There is nothing wrong with this website, in fact, it is the best chess site by far. Not everyone can be perfect and satisfy every persons wants or needs.  What are you expecting by whining and threatening to leave, for Erik to beg you to stay?  You would think you have better things to do then to cry about little pet peeves.  Deal with it and get on with your life.  If you are leaving then go.  The less negative people on this site the better.  I am sure Erik will have no problem reimbursing you your $0.00 dollars you have contributed to Chess.com

May I ask then Kick-a why on earth you are reading it? If ya don't like it

I agree, these forums are way out of control.  They don't moderate anything.  Very poorly done.

I would like to suggest you,in a good manner, to post your ideas and complainings to the administration of this site. They might be helpful.

Remdular, you do have a valid right to be annoyed by some less than insightful postings as we all are at times. In life, you are going to see a lot of inanity on the web and off. It is a good thing that you have voiced your frustration here because you clearly have a role in the chess.com community and your post has been valuable. Post away. I know it makes me feel better when I can clear the air about stuff that annoys me. However, I do like that there a number of people who are willing to defend the site.

PS Chimpy, what is happenning with the birds? Dont chimps eat birds?

I ignore most forum material. I just wish the front page was not a forum push page. Chess news is great, chess puzzles are fun, just stick to chess and leave the soap box for another page.
