there is no violation of the first amendment, or the principles on which America stands, when a private owner of a website says "you will not say this in my house.", period.

it shouldn't have to be said.

your sense of entitlement is dizzying.

You should read my post before calling me entitled!

I clearly said I applaud Erik (The owner of the site) for adopting policies that reflect our core values as Americans.  There is nothing entitled about that....

But I'm sure it wasn't your intention to insult me....

And clearly I said I understand that there are rules and that I respect them, but I think most of you would prefer fascism on their chess website!

Well, I guess if you're here just for the forums, sure maybe you might look elsewhere. If you're looking for a good place to play chess and learn, you're probably in the right spot. Want both? Sign up here to play chess and then head over to Facebook to chat.

I just don't understand people who want to have all their needs met by one website. Are you expecting Chess.com to take care of all your culinary inquiries as well, oh, and maybe it should give you all the political news of the day, oh and how about...

Good luck finding that one site you never have to leave to fulfill yourself.

Yes, and on with the flames.  I guess I posted before thinking this morning.  I forgot that trusty equation:

regular people + anonymity of the internet = complete morons.

I think there's a much simpler equation at work here:

People you don't "get" = morons

Put another way:

Internet user - (tolerance + acceptance + attempted understanding) = flame bait

This website is out of control.  How are you supposed to get paying members when you don't moderate the traffic on the site?  It's almost to the point now where it's unbearable.  There is no reason for 100 people to sit around waiting for midnight so they can post "first" and "easy" and "i'm so incredible that I did this is .5 seconds" etc on the daily puzzles.

Chess.com, please get yourself under control.  You are not the only place on the internet for chess conversation or puzzles or online play.  You are, however, quickly becoming my least favorite.

Your domain is worth over a quarter of a million dollars.  Start moderating the forums.

I'm fine with the Daily Puzzle threads, they're just a place for SPAM.

However, the moderation of the forums in general is too low. There are trolls (actually, the only one I can think of is cheater_1) and spammers (there are a TON of spamming, useless threads). Threads that are re-made should be locked or merged with the original--not left with three or more of the same thread. There should be much more warnings for spam and useless posts.

Don't worry Dwaxe, Erik has been telling a few peoples to stop postng useless threads and posts , so far I've seen some have taken notice of Erik and is working. KCWink

I know the posts of the daily puzzle are in the mayority stupid so I tend not to read those anymore!  However, some posts in the forum are interesting & when I find some topic I like, I read it as well as a few of the posts (just like I did here...!).  Administration is not to blame for that though: you will find morons -or simply kids that have nothing better to do, of people you'd never be friends with- just about everywhere...   Sooooo  do NOT complain, play your games & ignore what you don't like (or just leave!!!  we won't miss you)

Why would you object to people posting comments like "I'm first!" and"so easy" anyways? Whatever happened to freedom of speech??

You should spend more time focusing on your chess than chastising others.

he apologized, admitted to ranting, and i'm sure regrets this post now :) let's leave him alone ;)
