why people change queens

let´s talk about this guys,  many people here in chess.com are tryin all the time in game  change queens,  in my humble opinion this kill the game .   The reason why i play chess is because of the queen,  is the only piece you can move all places in one move. This annoys me deeply  , this catenaccio style should be punished.  We are here to have fun , enjoy the game,  we gonna have time to play a rook ending, but don´t change me the queen in move 15, please.

¿ what do you zink?

In my opinion, if anyone wins a game against me it ruins the game of chess for me.  Perhaps chess.com should insitute a rule that forces my opponents to resign at the end of every game?  Hmmm...

Sorry jovanu, but not only don't I agree, I'd make it a point if we played to trade queens at the earliest opportunity since I know it annoys you.  Any chance some of your opponents may be choosing to do the same?  Attachment to any piece is a psychological weakness and a smart opponent will take advantage of it.

I agree, some people will happily trade off every piece they can, and remove any chance of an exciting game. Especially a quick game, nobody plays them for an endgame grind.

If you don´t like it, don´t let your queen be manoeuvered into a position where it can be exchanged!

Both in chess and in soccer, what matters isn't being entertaining. It's about winning (or drawing if a draw is favorable under the circumstances). How that win or draw is achieved doesn't matter.

In soccer, I will always favor a team that wins 9 games out of 10 with 1-0 scores and draws the other game 0-0, over another team that wins 9 games with 4-0,5-0 scores and loses 1 game 0-1.

I am one of those who likes exchanging queens early in the game. Of course, it depends on the position but I admit I prefer playing without queens. The reason is quite obvious - my queen is my weakest piece, i.e. a piece I am not very good at playing with.

If my queen were able to go to every single square yours likely can (it "is the only piece you can move all places in one move") I would change my mind for sure. Laughing

Thx for telling me your weakness!

BTW, my weakness is my a2 pawn!

You are welcome.

That would fix a hole, wouldn`t it? Laughing

If you think chess is all about the queen then you don't know much about chess.

That's why his rating is only 2300!

me too. I find my queen high maintenance, and I prefer it when both queens are off the board. Granted, I'm not very good at using my queen.

Ryan_Davidson

I only exchange queens if it will put me in a much better position. Just cause my queen and my oppenents queen is aimed at each other, I won't rush to trade off queens, unless if I trade them I will be in a better position.

bean_Fischer

Because they cannot wear the same clothes everyday.

When I read abt the title? Change queens? How? Then I realize that it's abt exchanging/ trading the queens. hahahaha ...

bean_Fischer

I know that OP has high rating. But I don't agree with him that trading queens will kill the game. Contrary, it makes the game more exciting. We will see the skill of players without queens. I think those who play with the queen on board have to improve their skill. Can they checkmate without it?

greendayfans

There are many tactics combination can be implement if you have queen on the board, that why probably player who is not to sure about his tactical abilities exchange early. I prefer both, with queen or not. If white, im sure i want queen as long as possible because i like to attack then to defence.

bean_Fischer

It takes away the potential of being checkmated by some degrees.
