IF given the chance do you think Bobby Fischer Would join chess.com and do you think that If he had, would he be a teacher on chess.com. ( If chess.com were able to afford  him)

littlehotpot

Why do you say that?

oinquarki

Chess.com doesn't have that kind of money.

Good luck with raising him from the dead.

If this were the year 2001, I'd say good luck finding him at all.

Let's just say that for this discussion he was still alive and chess.com was around then and I did say "If given the chance"

ChrisLamb1

obviously it's just speculation but...

maybe he would've done when he was younger. by some accounts, once he learnt chess, he didn't have much time for anything else. he even learnt russian so he could read russian chess magazines. i think it's feasible that he would join chess.com to read some of the articles here.

there's also a story of him watching a game being televised on icelandic tv and calling the program to point out their analysis of the game was wrong.

i also read after the world championship match with spassky was over a dinner was held in his honour. fischer sat next to spassky, pulled out a travel-chess set and started showing him why he was always going to win a particular game in the match. not only was he incredibly intelligent but he wanted other people to realize his genius.

so it's possible he would've commented here too.

as he grew older and madder, his statements became more deranged and offensive. it's even possible he could've been kicked off the site !

No, if Fischer joined, then he'd have sovereign immunity.

El_Gremio

he would have joined for the hell of it and the rest would have been historical and hysterical!Tongue out

littlehotpot

what about just to play on chess.com and not teach

KOMMANDO

So whose's the best player at present on chess.com ?

Does he teach & help us poor mortals ?

Would really like to know, please .........

Wou_Rem

So what would Bobby Fischer do if he was here right now?
He'd make a plan and he'd followed trough, that's what Bobby Fischer would do!
When Bobby Fischer traveld in time to the year 2010.
He joined chess.com and shocked the chess world again.

@KOMMANDO Best player on Chess.com: GM Roman Dzindzi... And ya.. Authors please publish GM Bobby Fischer games please... Very few on this site only good one I found is the bishop vs knight win over Tamoniov

MarvsC

If Fischer joins chess.com, then I guess Erik will have tough time trying to please all and all of Fischer's demands, like 'touch screen option of moving the pieces'

Crapablanka

maybe, i heard some story about some blitz champion loosing 10 games in a row, and the guy telling him he was fischer afterwards a few years ago on yahoo chess.

Let's move onto more important questions.  Bobby Fischer; would you?

jesterville

If Bobby Fischer played on chess.com he would piss off everyone with his anti-jewesh, rants. I could imagine him being banned all the time on the forums...and even publicly calling erik out.

...oh...but what great TV that would have been...

Atos

I think that he didn't drink or smoke so that would be a problem.

theoreticalboy

I think most chess.com members (if they are honest) love to not have to read notlesu's posts.

You don't seem to realize the difference skill makes in chess.  Fischer wouldn't be able to play chess on this site -- the same with any top player and the primary reason they're not here.

The "chess" offered on this site might as well be a fishing trip or a sandwich making contest compared to the chess they're used to playing.  This is a nice place for amateurs to hang out and shuffle some wood, but top players don't consider anything we do here real chess :)

He would accuse erik of locking him all night in a jailhouse (and auctioning off his stuff that's in storage).

That sounds about right.
