4PC Variant: 4 Player Roads

Rules:


Custom position, Atomic, Sideways, Bare Piece Rule, Spectator Chat, Pawns promote to an alifi-rider, camel rider, or dragon bishop on the 8th rank, teams: Red and Yellow form a team against Blue and Green.

Time Control: 2/7D

Possible Suggestions: I would not mind feedback on the possible suggestions:

  1. Too many pawns in front of the King. I might replace a few with weak pieces such as ferz or wazirs.
  2. A weak gap near the Kings that allows for a quick win:

3. Change position of Alfia-Riders.

4. Remove some dead pieces from the center.

5. Enable N+ check.

I think you should make a game with a clear enjoy, mabe you should put king of the hill and put a general intead of the king, and sergents instead of pawns and make promotion to 11th=KQ so we should promote a king and get the hill. If one player get a king, you can promote a queen to prevent the king get the kill.

That sounds like a good idea! I might add N+ Check, since the general is swift and could easily score a win. The other thing I fear is that especially with the Atomic mode active, it's very easy to prevent this from happening and even score a checkmate. I wouldn't want to enable Capture the King as although it's much harder to stop it from happening, it's also hard to prevent, requiring active pieces in the center (since the king or general in this case can't take them due to them blowing up). However, the teammate can easily wipe out the opponent's pieces. Either way, it definitely improves the game and allows new plans. I'll post a image of the changed game board so you can offer more edits. Thanks for your support!

This position looks very fun! I would love to try it at some time. One suggestion is to lessen values of each players pieces. Too many high value pieces could lead to a long boring game. Though, everything else is great! Thank you for the new variant happy.png

Thanks! It means a lot to me. I went ahead and made a few changes here in which I took in your recommendations. 

Updated BoardChanges:

Replaced some queens with lower valued pieces (grasshoppers and generals).

Changed a pawn on each side to a ferz for a little extra defense.

Changed some dead grasshoppers in the center to dead alibabas (no effect but looks better).

Let me know what you think about these changes and if I might need to lower more material. Thanks!

And the dead pawn on i4 is supposed to be a dead knight.
