A-chess

Hello,

what do you think about this variant?

A-chess is characterized by the absence of the traditional black and white squares on the chessboard. In other words, the space is not divided into squares, but all positions on the "chessboard" are allowed. Obviously also the moves of the pieces are modified although they derive from the traditional moves.
In this way, the game tree of moves becomes innumerably larger so, the strategy become more important than the tactic.
The philosophy of the game is based on the rules of traditionally chess with some simplification but without squares.
In other words, we pass from a digitalization of space (chessboard) to a continuous space.

Wow. An excellent game. I am not a game developer and I don't know anything about making games but I think there is something that is confusing for me when I watch your youtube video. Somehow, it is hard for me to make a plan of attack because it is hard to tell on how much spaces the pieces have influence. Maybe, giving back the original squares will not hurt your variant. It will make the game easier to play.

IMO. I prefer clicking on the destination than dragging my mouse. Any highlights on the possible moving area and another for possible captures is also good. I also prefer winning by checkmate, other than capturing the opponent's King because that is how I am familiar on how the game is used to be. I don't know why the Knight do not go to the captured piece location if it captured it, but maybe making it go to the opponent's piece location will make it fair to other pieces' movement.

I also don't like touch move. To prevent this, I think there should be a button besides a mouseclick that confirm or deny the move after making one. I think a spacebar button for confirming the move and tab button for denying that move.

Premoves can also make the game easier to play on online game.

I also like double square pawn move and en passant because it makes the game faster. Regarding to en passant, I think this rule will apply. If a player's pawn is on the opposite side of the board but is not directly on the opponent pawn's attacking area and that pawn moves very long on its first move but somehow evade the pawn's attacking area while his path travel along his pawn's attacking area, his pawn can capture the opponent player's pawn on the turn after that particular move only if he move on the area where his pawn's attacking area and his opponent's pawn path intersect.
