Are chess variants harmful? The question mainly for masters...

IMHO the best among popular chess variants are in this order: 1.) Standard Chess 2.) Chess960 3.) King of the Hill 4.) Capablanca Random Chess (just amazing!!!) 5.) Gothic Chess 6.) Crazyhouse 7.) McCooey's Hexagonal Chess 8.) Shafran's Hexagonal Chess. Yes, we can have a lot of fun playing chess variants. However, some FMs and GMs believe that playing some of these variant could be actually, harmful for our Standard Chess skills. So, I am asking them publicly about their opinion on this topic. What variants are harmful and what could actually help us to play standard chess better. I am pretty much sure that Chess960 is good for us and possibly KOTH but I am not so sure about Crazyhouse although I love this variant. What about Gothic Chess? When we play hexagonal variants, obviously the visual pattern is very different but we still have complex calculations, sometimes even more difficult than in standard chess... I would really like to hear onion of masters!

What about IMs. Why would you not care what they think too? Also, what about WGMs? They're certainly better than FMs on average.
