I felt like being under a heavy attack. I had no plan but was just trying to play moves that are as annoying as possible for the attacker, expecting to be crushed. Only later it sank in that Bc4 would win a Rook.
I once played a handicap game, starting with a Queen up against a 2000 player. I lost the game. That's why I think that it would have been a serious option for Marks to play on with a Rook down.
I'm very happy with my move 12. ... We6. It gave my Queen and Bishop access to where the battle was really happening. NxW was certainly an option for White.

15. ... Bc4 is answered with NxW (attacking the Queen) fxN Qxg5 attacking an unprotected Knight and reducing the material loss to an exchange.

I suppose I get a witch for the rook but all my pieces are undeveloped and I don’t have enough pieces to mount a comeback.

I wish ry could be a bit more polite and not make this result sound like it is about him. At least congratulate evert for the win before saying you wish you would become the first to beat Marks. You sound more disappointed in this result than Marks, which obviously shouldn't be the case.
Anyways, nice tactic evert. In between moves can be hard to see when you expect a recapture. Did you see this trap when you played a6?
