Candidates Tournament #3 Final! (captaintugwash - HolographWars)

I heard about the storms and flooding on the news. Thanks for the heads up, and I hope your area recovers quickly.

The flood risk in my area has passed. Some properties were flooded, but most of the town is on a hill so we're fine. The river by me is the Teme, which is a tributary of the Severn. My Mother lives downstream at Upton-upon-Severn, and now it's their turn. Upton sometimes gets completely cut off when it floods, it becomes an island, but they're even more used to it than we are in Ludlow. It's relatively rare that flooding is a problem here, this is the first time it's overtopped the wall in thirteen years. This is like the fourth or fifth time this winter that Upton has been flooded, though this is the big one and it might even overtop their defences. Again, most of the town is on a hill, so it'll just be the usual fields and a handful of properties that suffer.

It's all related to Storm Dennis, right? I see a lot of stuff on the news including ships washing ashore, and flooding in many places. Check out this plane landing in cross winds (Heathrow airport). I'm glad to hear damage in your area is not too bad.

I'd need a clean pair of trousers if I were on this flight.
Yes, Storm Dennis is what did this, but it was Storm Ciara a week before that saturated the ground in advance, meaning nearly all of Dennis' rain was runoff. It's been a wet winter.

Wow, two storms in a row can really cause problems! Just to make sure, Holograph moved two days ago, so it's White (Tug) to move. I just want to make sure this discussion doesn't cause confusion.
I'm in a region under a severe flood warning, the river near me is at record levels. We'll be fine here, my house is well above the water level, but I'm not sure if local infrastructure is vulnerable, so if I disappear offline for a few days please don't time me out. Thanks.
