Chess960, but both sides are different

I'm sure this has been thought of before, which makes me even more shocked that I have never seen anyone talk about it. (That's probably because I don't look at the chess variants forum a lot, though. Forgive me if this has been brought up 1,000 times before.)

This is pretty self-explanatory. The standard Chess960 rules apply (bishops have to be on opposite colors and the king must be between the rooks); the only difference is that both players have their back rank randomized differently, so you have to really pay close attention to both sides before moving.

As you can see, this can potentially lead to some...unique games, including some positions where one side may have a pretty clear advantage right out of the gate.

I don't know about you, but I'm already imagining the fun and exciting games titled players and noobs alike could get from this variation. Potentially unbalanced starting positions aside, I see nothing to complain about.

In tournaments, James would come in pairs of 2 with the same position, just the people swapping colors
