The guard is basically a king, except it can be captured and isn't subject to check.

Yes, I can win a pawn because after the knight trade I capture a pawn with check. I did consider it but then thought you were dropping a knight with Nxe4. The witch is a tricky piece, I've been checkmated after 7 moves due to not paying it enough attention.
I mean this isn't a disaster, I'm certainly not resigning, but you're better now.
