Guard is very position dependent.  It's value will be between 3 and 5. In most K+G+P vs K+R endgames, the guard is winning.  If by grabbing the guard, I also picked up a pawn, it would be a much easier decision.

Here I played Bf4, but I can play Wg4 (attack knight) then We6+, followed by Bxe6

Gonna take a proper look at this later, I'm close to resigning but I might fight on if I think there's a chance.
