variants are more fun than normal chess the way vanilla ice cream is "not as good" as chocolate ice cream. people may like chocolate more, but vanilla is the OG ice cream and will always be thought of as such. normal chess is the first movie; variants are the sequels. the sequels cannot stand without the first movie. chess is the foundation the variants building is built on.
