Horde strategies:
1. Knowing which strategies are better for each colour: If you have the pawns, the best strategy is to keep the position closed as much as you can, while if you have the pieces, your goal should be to get behind the pawns by sacrificing your minor pieces to get your queen/rooks behind the pawns where you capture them one by one.
2. Sacrificing: Sometimes, if you have the pieces, to get behind the pawns you will need to sacrifice a piece or two to get a pieces behind the enemy pawns. Likewise, if you are the pawns, watch out for dangerous sacrifices that you might not see coming.
3. Pawn promotion: If you have the pawns, try to promote your pawns, otherwise you’ll never checkmate the king! Closing up the position by moving your pawn to an outpost on the 6th rank will help you trying to promote your pawns. If your opponent try’s to break through behind your pawns, if your pawns are too far advanced, they will promote before black’s queen will eat all your pawns!
