You don't. Maybe 960 if you challenge someone but that's about it

Hi, how can I invite my friend for a game of avaiable variants: Atomic or 960 or Horde, or Blindfold? Does it work when my friend plays thru the mobile app?

You have to go on the website. And even then, achievements are often broken (I haven’t got my king-of-the-hill achievements). Apart from 4-player chess and bughouse, it’s rare for more than a few people to be playing a variant.
