How to Improve in Chess 960

I have little idea. I'm below 1500, my lowest ratings in cc. Are there books like in standard chess? Master games collection?

Your 1443 Chess960 rating makes you better than 66.2% of the players here. CAre to give US some pointers? lol

Perhaps I'm being greedy  And starting to get lazy. I take longer time in making a move in 960 than standard.

As you know from me declining a 960 match with you, I am NOT a fan!

I started playing 960 last year only. And I joined a 960 tournament recently. I lost to someone 200 below. That somehow makes me want to Improve. I can't remember losing to 200 below in standard chess.

Not only you Jimmy... Most cc members aren't a fan of Chess 960.

Tactics books are based on standard games. How would it helps 960 play?

I discovered your 3 minutes game challenge. I can't play bullet in standard chess. 360 even more. Make it a Daily 360 challenge.

Is the Bishop pair advantage applicable in 960?

I believe that was the whole purpose of 960, to get away from memorizing set openings and instead to rely mainly on tactics and how pieces are best employed from unusual opening positions.

I think the name 960 comes from the different number of starting positions possible. (Seems high?) Anyway, with so many starting positions, it's impractical to try to memorize "standard openings", so creativity and tactics become more important.

So, I suppose as already suggested, studying tactics and positional play may help. Good luck.
