i found a trick to do variants on the iOS app, but then they updated the Help page on the app and now I can’t :(
There's an iOS app being designed right now but only for Gothic Chess (now renamed Trice's Chess)
Go to a club and join it and click on any profile and challenge that profile and now you can choose the variant you want to play
10x8 variant known as "Gothic Chess" on here works on iPhones. It's called Trice's Chess everywhere else but here.
