LOCKING CHESS (Brazil, 21st century)
LOCKING CHESS reinvented chess with the option to superimpose and move pieces over each other, and victory with new types of checkmates. This piece superimposition allows for 1600 opening moves, and for the first time, a King can also check and win with ROYAL LOCKMATE or ROYAL MATE!
In LOCKING CHESS, chess players compete in two territories, one at the level of the chessboard and the other above it, moving their pieces over each other as if they were squares to climb on. Controlling this “airspace” will be vital to create traps, avoid blunders and unexpected captures. Therefore, the mythical animal HIPPOGRIFF, a mixture of horse, eagle and lion, symbolizing dominance on land and in the air, was chosen for the LOCKING CHESS logo!
LOCKING CHESS consolidated the third dimension of the chessboard, inaugurating an arsenal of strategic plans and even more complex and challenging tactical themes!
After thousands of tries, now chess is complete.
