Ry, are you gonna call a TW?
Martin vs The world Analysis thread
JARP, I'm posting to remove your 3 in a row block.
What's a TW, and how are we going to avoid the outcome that my next post's run-on, classic movie analogy, will envisage?

See, the thing is, JARP, let's say we do get to the "end".
I've just reviewed the chances of our perpetually checking White's King.
And this is juxtaposed against every once in a while, White losing the ability to check our King...
But in the process, White advances the e-file pawn one step closer to Queening.
And if that pawn doesn't suffice, then another, and another will be brought to bear.
"When he comes at you, he doesn’t seem to be livin’
… until he bites yuh!
And those black eyes r-o-l-l ov-er white, and then…
Aww, then you hear that terrible high pitched screamin’
… the ocean turns red an'
despite of all the poundin’ and the hollerin’
they all come in an’ they… rip you to pieces, hhhgh.”
Current Position (Black to Move)
I was wondering how Martin would move his Queen and, for better or worse, I appreciate his move decision. He, too, couldn't fathom the complexities of the endgame with the Queens still on the board. But, if the game comes down to King & pawn vs. King, and our King is in front of Martin's pawn… well, we'll have a draw outcome. My vote is Bxd7… and yes, it is our only move.
“Y'know by the end o'that first dawn, …lost a hundred men.
I don’t know how many sharks, maybe a thousand.
I don’t know how many men, they averaged six an hour.”
JARP, my screen shows four moves in a row; I don't know how you did it. I've been blocked from just making Edits to my third in a row.
I've been practicing with the latest position, and because of the uniquely peculiar movement of Drunken Bishops, their 90º right angle feature, it will be extremely difficult for Martin to get a Win.
This is because they are unmatched in duplicitous attack and defense! It used to be, pawn down, you'd have a weak side. Not anymore!
Here's a taste, not perfect by any means.
Now, we have our King ready to defend, and we try to plug the gaps and stay flexible. We just match what Martin does, depending on where his King heads.
Dude, that sample ending is terrible. Our king get's stuck there because it needs to babysit that pawn (prevent a pass pawn) while martin's king gets active. Martin can easily win after that
I don't think we should trade drunken bishops
Trading of the Drunken Bishops will not be our choice; Martin will see to that.
I'd prefer not to trade them, and positions evolve, so it may be possible to avoid it.
But Martin will go for our weaknesses. Our pawn on e6… if it falls, we lose.
So, Martin intends to bottle us up on our back ranks, and then bring his King up.
Yolo, is there any better end for us than the one you played?
I looked at my diagram, and 4. … Bc6 could be replaced with just 4. … b6.
Maybe save us.
Current Position (Black to Move)
No surprise here, from Martin.
I moved the King over, a likely response.
"On Thursday mornin’, Chief,
I bumped into a friend of mine,
Herbie Robinson from Cleveland.
Baseball player. Boson’s mate.
I thought he was asleep…
I reached over to wake him up.
He bobbed up ‘an down in the water,
he was like a kinda top.
Upended.
Well, …
he’d been bitten in half below the waist."
JARP, in endgame strategy the general rules are, when you are ahead, exchange pieces, not pawns.
Bc6 and Martin takes our DB immediately, exchanging pieces , we take back (our pawns get split), he plays c5, and then he attacks that pawn forever when he brings his Rook up, Rd6. If we move our Rook to d8, take his Rook, he has a mini pawn chain, and his King is two steps away.
Unless you guys see somethings else.
Once the DBs go, we have a Standard Board again, and we're down a pawn.
Edit: Bc6 and we lose another pawn, guaranteed.
I mean Kc7 would be a no brainer in a normal game, but maybe just Rxd7 and Bxb7 and I think we are completely lost. (Although not completely sure how strong DBs are in the endgame)
Bc6 and we obviously lose, so I think we might be screwed either way. I think we just play Kc7 and hope Martin undervalues DBs.
Current Position (Black to Move)
What about Bf7? Avoid trade downs, but maintain positional integrity.
“Noon, the 5th day, Mr. Hooper,
a Lockheed Ventura… saw us,
he swung in low, and he saw us t’wee'.
A young pilot, a lot younger than Mr. Hooper.
Anyway, he saw us, and he come in low
and 3 hours later a big fat PBY comes down
and start to pick us up..."
