New chess variant: what do you think?

So the variant is called poison squares chess. The gimmick is that every move, some squares a poison squares, so the piece occupying the square gets captured. If there is a king on the square, it switches to a different square. It starts off being only one square, then it gradually increases as the game goes on.

I would assume 1 per turn (as in after both white and black move, boom, poison, repeating).

Also, I think they should only spawn on empty squares.

That way, you can't run the risk of, say, getting poison on d8 after 3 moves and oops now you're down a queen for no reason.

Also, maybe the poison could "decay", so the poison only applies for, say, five moves, so the endgame isn't destroyed.
