The Gay Chess variant 🌈

Hello there !
Do you play Twins, or Gay Chess ? bkbkwkwk
What is this ? The set has 2 Kings instead of 1 King and 1 Queen !
 😉👑👑🌈

So yes : no Queen at the beginning... until a Pawn promotion !
Here are the principles of this very simple variant and its amazing ways to checkmate:

Castle :
Each King may left or right castle, if possible :
You can also castle one King, and castle your second King later, if possible !

Checkmate :

Here, one white King is checkmate : game over, Black wins !
Here, the e3 King is check and pinned -> checkmate !
Here, both King are check by forking -> Checkmate !

Stalemate
No white pieces can move -> Stalemate !
A useful variant to make the most of your pieces without Queen (at least at the beginning of the game), and to be twice as careful with your Kings !
You can also play Twins-Chess960 (The 2 Kings shall be between the 2 Rooks at the beginning).
All you have to do is find 2nd Kings for your set, or disguise your Queens as Kings !
Have fun ! happy.png

very nice variant!

but with custom rules we can't put several royal pieces...

I mean... it's an interesting enough idea for a varient. The lack of queens makes things less tactical, but having to protect two kings probably more than compensates.

Not sure calling it "gay chess" will allow it to catch on though happy.png

Bloodyyyyy cooooooollllllllll 😱😱😱 I see that if only one king gets mated, both get 🤔🤔 So, I think it's a lot easier to checkmate in this variant, since a simple fork or pin can be a checkmate!!! 🤔🤔 Is it possible to capture one of the kings?? 🤔🤔🤔

En passant might make even more sense here

Dear sir, your handle is almost as evil as @ponnupazoozu.

why change the name?

"Gay Chess" was perfect

Or simply let unchanged the original name "Two Kings Chess",  invented 1997 with all the mentioned rules, including both short castlings,

Thanks for the archeological information. I was sure I wasn't the first one to imagine this variante ! In 1997 society was not so open-minded as today. So "gay chess" seems to be a perfect buzz-maker name to promote this variant in 2023 😁
