The Mega_dog tournament

Well maybe piqnochess can take PawnStorm's place, but obviously he has the disadvantage that since PawnStorm lost his first game, it's impossible for piqnochess to play in the final. Martin0 has been updating the bracket, so if Martin0 says it's OK then I'm OK with it.

To be honest though, I'm not sure if piqnochess actually wants to play. I haven't seen him post anywhere else. Pulling him in might be a no-show risk. Let's see if he comes back.

@PawnstormPossie won his first round and lost in the second.

I don't mind replacing players without victories, but since Pawnstorm has a victory it could be argued that the player joining gets an advantage, even if he joins a later round in the losers bracket. I don't want him replaced. If @Togishere does not show up though, then I don't mind a player replacing him.

Also, this is a standard double elimination bracket. Participants are eligible to win the tournament until they have lost two games. The winner in the winners bracket will play in a grand final against the winner in the losers bracket. The W Bracket champion needs to beat the L Bracket champion only once to win the tournament, while the L Bracket champion must beat the Winners' Bracket champion twice (this is because in double elimination players are eliminated after their second loss and if the W bracket champion loses one game it would be his first loss).

Thanks Martin0 for the clarifications, especially pointing out that PawnStorm did win his first game. I also agree with your logic - a player replacing someone who has won at least one game has the advantage they are entering with a "free win". So I agree that should not be allowed.

But Pawnstorm lost right after...

I believe Pawnstorm's first win helps him in the tournament though. Since he won his first game, he enters the losers bracket at one level better than the round-1 game.

I agree with 14 days. The 14 days starts at the first request on this topic announcing the game can begin. At least on more request to show up, and one direct message must be sent, and these must be sent at least three days prior to the player losing by forfeit.
(my suggestion).

Sounds good to me. In this case I posted the pairings here on October 16, so your opponent has until October 30 to show up.

Have you sent your opponent a direct message? The deadline is past.

Thanks Martin for the reminder. I just sent him a message (both by mail and on his homepage). He was online 5-hours ago so I hope he replies.

@Togishere, are you here? I advance on November 5 if you don't reply.

I found an old game from @Togishere:

(I deleted my previous comment, because it had wrong information)

Togishere did reply to me, but he didn't say if he wants to play or not. So I asked him again. I'll keep asking him until he gives me a Yes or No answer.

Nobody is saying that you should be as active as others. However, once you sign up for a tournament where everybody expects certain timelines, or when you agree to play a rated game with certain time controls, then it is slightly different. That would be the same as accepting a normal game on chess.com and then quitting the game and letting your opponent wait.
Out of politeness, you could choose not to sign up for the tournament, or to ask for longer time controls, if you don't want to be that active.

Togishere, if you'd like to play just say Yes. It's been more than 14 days since my game finished, so you have to reply here within 3 days. (November 19).

Btw, you can see the bracket for this tournament on page 22. You and I both lost our first game, so we are near the bottom.

After you confirm you'd like to play I will start the thread for the game. (I'm currently travelling so my reply might be after 1-2 days).

how is it fair that @HolographWars gets to start in the losers bracket? hes really high rated, so he is just beating everyone

Thanks Togishere, I will start a thread for our game soon. I hope within the next two days.

HolographWars is in the losers bracket because he replaced woofydog106. woofydog106 lost his first game by forfeit, so Holograph takes his place in the losers bracket.

Still pretty unfair, I just hope someone (maybe me) will beat him.
