Variant idea: Daddy I learned a new opening

The jist:

1. Someone picks an opening.

2. He/she tries it against someone (telling him/her what moves to play if necessary to stay within theory) (may be easier to start partway into the opening line in question).

3. See how well the latter can guess the opening/avoid the “wrong” moves at critical positions/etc.

(The title is based on the idea of a child always learning the newest “looks cool” opening and wanting to try it against their dad.)

Motive: To see how someone you like to play against would react to positions they would (likely) never encounter in a classical game because of the opening setups they always choose.

You’re right in the sense that my idea may well be a bit more tedious than is worth it.
