Demo # 6
There are 4 different game types.
The actual game play rules are exactly the same for all the game types.
The only thing that is different is the setup procedure for the pawns at the start of the game.
The 4 examples that follow show the different game types with a brief description of each setup procedure.
Game Type 1
Each pawn has 2 possible random starting positions.
The pawn setup is symmetrical with the players reading the files in the same order.
White reads the files from A to H.
Black reads the files from A to H.
Game Type 2
Each pawn has 2 possible random starting positions.
The pawn setup is asymmetrical with the players reading the files in opposite order.
White reads the files from A to H.
Black reads the files from H to A.
Game Type 3
Each pawn has 3 possible random starting positions.
The pawn setup is symmetrical with the players reading the files in the same order.
White reads the files from A to H.
Black reads the files from A to H.
Game Type 4
Each pawn has 3 possible random starting positions.
The pawn setup is asymmetrical with the players reading the files in opposite order.
White reads the files from A to H.
Black reads the files from H to A.
The original game type from early 2018 was game type 3 but that was without double drops.
It is only very recently that game types 1 and 2 were introduced along with double drops to speed the game up.
A lot of test games were played in 2018 using only game type 3 and much of what has been recently published or introduced into the game is based on that work.
Game type 4 is brand new and has never been seen or played before now.
In order to make the game play rules identical for all 4 game types the original rule for protected pawns is now being used once again.
A White Unit can not capture a Black Pawn on ranks 7 and 8 when White is not yet fully deployed.
A Black Unit can not capture a White Pawn on ranks 1 and 2 when Black is not yet fully deployed.
Note that this original rule applies to all the game types.
Note that this rule only applies to units, pawns are not affected by this rule, they can always capture.
This is a demo for the game.
The focus of this demo is game types and setups.
