what happened to that bot vs bot mode?

There was a mode where you set up the pieces and then let the bots fight it out, and I really liked it, and I can’t find it.

Yeah, it was called automate. Unfortunately, it was a maintenance headache for the developers and wasn't very popular.
They discontinued it last year.
