4-Player Bulldog Chess: Martin0 and Livewithfriends - Yo-thats-fresh and rychessmaster1

Wouldn't 4 Player Bulldog Chess be more exciting if we had a time thief instead of the Guard? Somehow the Guard is too immobile and primary defensive for me, I miss more offensive possibilities. The TT has the agility of a queen and could bring more dynamism into the game. Do we want to play a test game with the same team composition?
And I have an additional suggestion: This rule should be changed: ”Although two witches are on the same team, they only make pieces of their own color transparent.”
I think it would be much more exciting if the witches in the same team could support each other. This would also lead to more teamwork opportunities and is an essential part of a good 4 player game.

I agree that the guard is a bit too immobile. Sometimes you rather wish you would not have the guard since it delays development of your rook.
I also agree that the rule for the witch should be changed for future games.
However I don't think a time thief would be very fun to play with. The time thief is actually a very defensive piece. The pieces a time thief attacks does not want to move, so the time thief restricts enemy pieces and you would be afraid to develop your queens since you don't want to move your queen to a square which a time thief can attack in one move. The time thieves really remove a lot of offensive possibilities. They just restrict stuff without creating much threats by themselves.
I suggest replacing the guard with a Archbishop (moves like bishop+knight).

All right, Martin's arguments are convincing. Archbishop is a good choice. Shall we play a test game?

Alright gg, I started the new game:
