hi

vickalan
Hi gyrados, this game has gone past 40 moves. That is much longer than I thought a game of Musketeer Chess would normally last! Now:

Hi Zied, I like to hear your advice, but I think you broke a rule of chess:  you should not give help, or discuss a game while it is still in progress.

This has been a good game, both while playing you and also playing gyrados. I think you are right that the game is getting near the end.

When this game is finished, I would like to play again. I can play either brainking or you, but unfortunatelly I don't have time for two new games.

Gyrados: After this game, would you like to play another game? This time we can play from the beginning. Let me know if there is some favorite chess variant you would like to play.happy.png

this is a lost cause, i resign. By the way, could i play another game of musketeer chess with the builder against you?

vickalan
OK, you held on to a good game for a long time. I think you started this game from a slightly losing position. Even musketeer said he wasn't too happy after about move 15. But you played really well.

The builder is a fun piece to play with. Let me know if the starting game position below is OK. Or if you want some different pieces, or in different positions let me know. I look forward to it.happy.png

This is ok, I will start by playing e4

OK, great! I'll list the rules just to make sure everything is clear.

rules for "Chess with Builder"

The pieces:
Guard (G) - Moves and captures like a king, but is not affected by check.
phpO4mae1.png

Builder (U) - All friendly pieces adjacent to a friendly builder inherit each other's movement/capture capabilities (without special functions like royalty). For example a white rook and white bishop adjacent to one white builder would both temporarily move like queens. The builder can only move one single step orthogonally, and cannot capture himself (but can be captured).

Board Setup: note the position of black's king and queen are switched compared to classical chess. This is so the builder is equal distance to each player's king and queen.

Castling:
The rules of castling are similar as in classical chess, however, with the board 10 squares wide, the king travels three squares rather than two. The rook finishes adjacent to the king (white: d1 or h1; black c8 or g8). Note files are now numbered "a-j" with "a" and "j" being the new flanks. As usual when castling, all squares between the king and the involved rook must be unoccupied, and this includes the square where the builder is initially positioned.

Other rules of this game are identical with rules of classical chess.

I'll play:
