On October 2, 2010, I will be hosting a Chess tournament in the Detroit suburb of Auburn Hills.
I have always been interested in games other than Chess, but with special emphasis on international and ancient varieties of Chess. At the Chess tournament, I would like to include a section for playing Shogi, the Japanese variant of Chess.
Of course, a tournament needs players. If you live anywhere in the neighborhood, and might be interested in playing in this tournament, drop me a line, here or at my email, dave @ gamesinmichigan.com. If we have enough players, I will include a section.
This will be a rather casual event. No big prizes. No huge entry fees. Just a chance to get together on a Saturday and play Chess or Shogi.
Information can be found at http://gamesinmichigan.com/ChessForCharity
If there is insufficient interest in a tournament, I will still have boards and rules for Shogi, Xiangqi, and some other Chess variants and other abstract strategy games, ancient and modern, available for play in the tournament skittles room.
