Can I castle?

Thanks. It was 960. That's what I thought was supposed to occur, but the computer wouldn't make the move. I am confused on this. Rules seem to read that the castled pieces end up in the positions they would occupy under normal chess...which implies to me that the row must have e1 open (in the case of a queen side castle). So, in my case, having e1 occupied by a knight, prevented this castle. Is that correct?
I was dealt a set up with Rook on b1, King on c1, and Rook on d1. Knight sits on e1. How would a castle look?
Thanks
