White is trying to mate Black.
Black is trying to get rid of all the White pawns.

I thought White had only pawns in this variant.

Indeed, this is not the normal 'Horde' (which, btw, originally was known as "Lord Dunsahy's Game"). Furthermore, it seems the given position is a dead loss for black.

That's right.

Black only needs to get rid of all white pawns, guys.

TheBlunderfulPlayer

How did I forget that??? Still, on websites like lichess.com, White has ONLY pawns.

Well, getting rid of 17 Pawns is far mor difficult than getting rid of a single King. And tactically 9 Pawns are much stronger than a single King. Even if you would give white a normal King, and black an extra Rook, which should be good for black as a Rook is tactically superior to a King, the position would be badly lost for black, with a Rook versus 8 Pawns. So black has both the inferior army and the far more difficult task.

It might be balaced if you delete the white Queen. Or if that is too much, replace the white Queen by a non-royal King.

Hmm. Thanks for the feedback.
