The King MUST be between the 2 rooks!!!

The given position is NOT a legal chess960 position.

The castling rule is what gives 'Fischerandom' chess its distinct flavour.

It is not just 'shuffle chess' as the forerunner of chess960 was called.

I am rather tired with talk about the castle rule, which should be a non-issue.  It is/should be a non-issue because the two castling positions are the same in Chess 960 as in standard.  Okay?  The rules just need to be re-written to reflect this... and computer programs re-worked to bring conformity, which would help us all, okay?  The rule might include this in it (besides King not being in check, obstructions, etc.) : White's King castles 1) right-side at g1 with right-side rook going to f1; 2) left-side at c1 with left-side rook going to d1... (and similarly for Black)  Rather simple, isn't it?

Sure, the castling rule for standard, as written in rulebooks) may be more concise than the above; however, I think that we are better helped by conformity between standard and Chess 960.
