I don't care for it either, because I have my hands full just playing and trying to understand regular chess. Nevertheless, I respect 960 as a worthy variant, and I consider it mildly interesting to spectate.
Do you like Chess960?

I go on and off it. I like games where the openings aren't "mirror images" of each other, as often happens, you get a symmetrical formation forming. But most times, it throws up some highly original situations. I normally keep a few games going alongside my standard games as a change, I play more relaxed in them.

I love 960 so far. In a way, I feel it really helps me to understand the benefit of position in a game. Instead of book openings and standard starts, 960 makes you look at all your pieces. You have to know which pawns are in danger, which diags you can send your bishop to...
For me, I think 960 is my favorite form of chess, for at least the next few months.

Just the other day, I made a move in a tourney game that had just started, and thought I was going nuts because of how the pieces were arranged. Took a minute to realize that it must be a 960 tourney. Didn't know it when I joined. I've never played it before so I'll see how long I last.

I like Chess 960 especially because of the challenge in the first few opening moves -- finding the "best" move in the face of the potential traps, and wondering if my opponent will find that "best" move. It's an intensity of play in the openings that one doesn't find in standard chess because there the openings are already laid out.
I don't because it's too confusing...
