I'll share some thoughts on the game from my perspective tomorrow or Monday when I can use pc

hi @hitthepin, @martin_0, @kalvin_k
This was my first full game of event, so here are my thoughts along the way. First, I wasn't sure when was the best time to nominate an event. White already has the tempo advantage so I didn't feel I needed to change the rules right away. As black, I might be more willing to call an event as soon as the first turn to have the extra tempo with the first event...
Anyways, I went with an english and you chose to mirror my first moves which I feel is a sound strategy for this type of format.
So we got three moves in and I decided to call the event now, specifically so that I knew whether the pieces are going to change in movement or value, or whether I should go right in for d4. Tanks ends up being a really interesting event, what really sticks out to me is how good they end up being on half-open files because of the way they can blast thru pawn chains and the way they eliminate knights on outposts. Also their lateral ability could be devastating. Their value is way more than 5, and as you alluded to their value goes up and up as the game gets further into middle and end. I was expecting rook tension and that we'd end up trading at least one pair. I wasn't sure how good doubling ends up being, but I knew I'd happily trade a queen for two rooks in a heartbeat, and maybe even for just one rook if it was dangerous enough ...

so with our pawn advances, the game moves forward as expected with double isolated queen pawns, and open c- and e- files. The rooks are set to jump into action so it's a race to those files and we're probably going to exchange. Even though I don't want him on the open file, I put the LS bishop on e2 to pre-emptively break a pin and get on with castling. You called for event, and I feel like the name for this one is cheeky because imo it should have been Don't Move Forward. Any piece that gets over-extended isn't coming back, even the Tank rook and especially the Queen. So this ends up complicating defense by fragmenting piece coordination, and causing back-rank issues that intuitively don't seem to exist. This is going to be a bigger issue in an open position, which we have. However, I no longer like my LS bishop on e2, I'd rather have it fianchettoed with this rule ...
