To get better at regular chess blitz, some say to get better at regular long game chess because the skills translate, and some say to strengthen your tactical game and focus on blitz:

What do you suggest for getting better at blitz crazyhouse and bughouse and why? Should it be developing regular chess skills, either long or blitz, that translate? Or focus on long game crazyhouse and bughouse so you internalize the game for blitz, or just focus on blitz tactics and strategies for crazyhouse and bughouse?
