Exactly.
HorribleTomato

That is true.

Since @CaptainTugwash is going to play infinite with me with the premoves 1.(3,4) H(1,12) I suppose I get my opening, based on the english?

That's cool you noticed my common defense is based on the Sicilian. Can I call it the Vickilian?

I had so many posts I skipped over this one! Well, I changed it now.

I did a study to try to learn if the queen can be used for an effective flank attack. I'm not sure how to study every possible combination, but it seems like the queen by itself can't do much in the opening.

Same as in normal chess, the queen has too much value, so cannot be used in early exchanges. From the starting position it takes at least three moves (or 1 P + 2 Q moves) to get behind the opponent's army. But the defense is faster than the attack, giving the defender "free" plies to also develop other pieces.

However, in the 4-player version, it appears McGoohan and hitthepin have used a flank attack for some advantage. (But the game is in progress, so can't comment on it more now).

For now, I feel that queen-only flank attacks in normal 2-player is dubious. So I guess it doesn't get named after anyone. Unless we find a reckless or daring player.

...You just said that to my face, didn't you. Flank attack? THAT'S WHY I'M PLAYING (3,4) AGAINST CAPTAIN TUGWASH IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! Tip: (3,4) forces a hawk move, since Q(-7,12) takes away hawk's best squares, making it take an extra move if the activation is delayed. Check my game v. @AidenB1 I developed practically NO PIECES and started targeting a material+ and an attack.

Also, False: it takes 1P+1Q to get behind the opponent's army, but 1Q to check it... But why check?

I call it the Nemowits ( inspired from past user name from shorthand form) Defense. It transposes whether they play 1. e4 or 1.d4. It can also be played from the French or Caro-Kann. At this point in the game, you can go for the more aggressive Slav, modern Triangle like formation, with a push to d5 or play d6 for a slower, more positional game. I have won with it and is playable against masters, but you can't make a single mistake, or you'll lose for sure. The other point of it was to play a system that can be played every game and thus shorten the learning curve. I decided to broaden my horizons and use it as more of a surprise, to take someone out of more readily understood theory.

This is infinite, right? Because I'm listing official INFINITE CHESS OPENINGS on here. If it isn't, I'm sorry you typed so much for this...

Technically, as soon as I play either of the opening moves, it is either classified as French or Caro-Kann.

Okay Tomato, what are you calling your opening?
HorribleTomato

The name is quite appropriate. I also added 4 Hawks Game: Main Line

hitthepin
I believe you mean (3,4) and not (3,5)?

Some posts, yes, but mostly far-fetched opening strategy/theory

That's a great game (Tomato vs AidenB1), but I don't consider the material advantage to have been gained by a flank attack. Black's queen did launch a flanking attack, but the queen was lost in exchange for a hawk. After this, it appears Black has become better, but the exchanges don't appear to be based from exchanges from behind the opponent. The board is already complicated, and an excellent game, but I wouldn't call it a pure flank-style attack.happy.png

I missed the chancellor!

hitthepin
Wow. I can see you put in a lot in these openings.
HorribleTomato

Ya. I'm trying to do my best to help... but @Vickalin does much more work!

HorribleTomato

So should this be like Chess.com Opening Explorer with up to date opening theory? It's not engine analysis, in fact theory could be a blunder... but still infinite theory!
