Never say Never. It could easily replace classical chess. Its much more fun, and the relies much more on ability as opposed to opening theory and memorization.

The best chess variation is chess69. But of course, probably none of you have tried it [leaves the room in a gesture of superiority]

It won't create a new breed of masters, I'd say current masters will pick it up far more quickly than ordinary players will.

I really hope that I will see the day when chess960 becomes the norm for chess tournaments. Chess960 or FischerRandom chess will create new breed of masters, it will rewrite chess theory and will deem tons of chessbooks barely useful. It would be great if chess.com would make Live Chess960 available.
