Anyone else want to play a game of Event Chess? I'm still new, so don't expect a challenge, but event chess looks like it can't not be fun.

Didn’t think you’d expect a challenge within 10 mins of your post, did you? I’ll play you and Tomato both, if that’s alright with Martin0. happy.png

Sounds good to me, Junebug444. Thanks for the quick response happy.png.

HorribleTomato

Okay. Wait... 16 posts IN A DAY!?!?

Alright, I have started the games. I'm glad event chess has gotten some popularity. happy.png

BTW, I won my game against @PixelbyPixel on time.

Hey, just had an idea for a variant and was wondering if anyone wanted to try it. This type of idea may have been had before, but not that I know of. It is basically the same thing as classic bulldog chess, with one difference: When a pawn moves three times, it may instantly promote to a guard. That's it. Suggestions? Comments? Thoughts? Anyone want to give it a shot? It could fail, but whatever.

aidanB1

ill try

Fly-Eagles-Fly

Great! Thanks aidanB1. I'll set up a thread (link here). See you there happy.png.

Vickalan (or anyone who knows), how do you do your board updates for Bulldog Chess? Was just wondering. Maybe this should be in a different thread, I don't know... Just wondering happy.png

vickalan

We just use a graphics program like MS Paint (I believe most Windows PCs come with MS Paint in "accessories" folder). Pieces are moved by cut-and-paste. The eyedropper is for copying a color, and "fill" to fill the empty space after a piece moves. Here is a template of all the pieces if you'd like to dabble with it.happy.png

Oh, ok, thanks for the info Vickalan happy.png.

Anyone want to try some new pieces? (Actually they might have been invented before but not to my knowledge). Here I'm just going to give them basically random names that are related, because they're all based on the same concept. You'll need to tell me if they have already been used tongue.png

Jaguar

Can always move as a rook. When it's on a black square, it can also move as a knight, and when it's on a white square it can also move as a bishop.

Cougar

Can always move as a bishop. When it's on a black square, it can also move as a knight, and when it's on a white square it can also move as a rook.

Panther

Can always move as a knight. When it's on a black square, it can also move as a rook, and when it's on a white square it can also move as a bishop.

If anyone's willing to give one or two of them a shot, we could use them in musketeer chess, bulldog chess, or just add an extra column to the side of the board like this variant.

So, anyone want to try?

EDIT: Changed Leopard to Cougar

hitthepin
The leopard is a piece in Musketeer Chess. It can slide two squares diagonally or jump like a knight. Sorry.
hitthepin
Very cool ideas though!

I thought I recognized the name from somewhere in chess. Is Cougar taken? That could work too.

Hi, i like the Panther rules

I think that one is the best of the three. It was actually the first one I came up with, and the other two followed. Want to give it a try in a game?

Fly-Eagles-Fly

Great! I'll start a thread (link here). I have actually never played a game of musketeer chess. There's a first time for everything! I should at least be competitive, though, if we're playing with pieces that no one ever has before tongue.png.

aidanB1

Can I play too?

hitthepin
Wow, FEF is really getting into this variant thing
