Seirawan Chess On Chess.com?

I'd like to see Seirawan Chess played on this site live. There a re no site where one could play such etherodox variation.

Seirawan Chess is cool but I don't know if it's the right way to go. Bughouse is the main priority now. Crazyhouse would be cool, too.
The problem with Seirawan Chess is the name and the rights. Seirawan and his business partner might want to charge for that. No way Chess.com would do that when there are variants that are free and are much more popular. Regular Chess is fine the way it is. Chess 960 is awesome and soon there will be Bughouse. I think it's better to concentrate on those three than to spread out too thin.
Just my 2 cents. Of course, I'd interested in hearing what others think on the issue.

Bughouse fails to interest me. Its principal contribution was providing the idea that made it possible for Seirawan to render Capablanca's idea workable.
I have a Seirawan set and have played it a few times. It is an immensely challenging game. If Chess.com adds it, I will play it here. I have not played Chess960 and in all likelihood will not play bughouse.

Doduo, this is Seirawan Chess: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seirawan_chess
And for those who don't know, this is bughouse: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bughouse_chess
Bughouse of course is very famous due to its equal nature. In Chess, one side (white) has an advantage. In Bughouse, both sides have one white and one black.
"Richie and Oprah wrote:

blacks advatage is that he gets to make his/her first move AFTER seeing what white's move is "
According to actual USCF game statistics: White has a 50 rating point advantage over black, based on 10000s of games played.

The Variant ICS supports Seirawan Chess live (using WinBoard as client). There also is a webpage where you can play turn-based Seirawan Chess ( http://hgm.nubati.net/schess/play.html ).
But of course there are never any people there. That is the problem with Seirawan Chess: it is sub-critical. That makes live websites quite unviable. Even people that would like to play don't find any opponents when they come there, and go away.

I believe if you build it, they will come. Seirawan chess is fantastic and if chess.com made it available like 960 its popularity would increase as a matter of course.

So that seems to be a misguided belief, then. I already built it many years ago, both a turn-based browser-based server at the mentioned link, and an oppotunity for live play at the FICS-like server at winboard.nl, and there still is no one there at all.

Looks playable !
The official S-Chess website (sells Elephant & Hawk pieces!)
WinBoard: A Chess GUI with elaborate variant support (incl. S-Chess)
Variant Chess Server: where you can play live (real-time) Chess variants
Fairy-Max: an AI for Chess variants
Note that some of these pages are old,and because of lack of interest I had stopped updating them. The WinBoard package at the download link mentioned on the "Variant Chess Server" page is an old WinBoard version, and the installer creates a menu item to connect with the IP address where the server no longer is. I added a provisional remark on the page to point that out now.
I am not even sure whether the latest WinBoard package (version 4.8.0) has the winboard.nl server in its list of pre-configured Internet Chess Servers.

I added the Seirawan Hawk & Elephant to Omega Chess and evolved it more until it played well with good balanced and complexity: Cerebral (edema) Chess
Go to this forum link to access poster with diagrams and play online version (still working out a few bugs, but playable). :-)

Now that the subject pops up, I've opened a seek for Seirawan chess on the chessvariants page:

Agreed! Seirawan and Harper have taken Capablanca's great idea and pieces and made them "workable" as Ziryab wrote. Put Sharper chess on any of the main servers and there's no way it's not going to take off.

I love Seirawan chess! Please, check out this variant of S-chess & Omega chess, plus crowning the bishop & knight. I've been playing this variant cerebral (edema) chess for over a year with amazing combinations. The computer isn't very smart yet :-) Keith

What are your thoughts on adding the New Chess Variant to Chess.com?
