does anyone know if chess has ever been played in such a way that both players write their moves in advance and then declare those moves, and make them, at the same time?
i think this type of variation would work very well if managed by a chess site. the site programme could automatically deal with any situations that were obviously "illegal".
the game would be exactly like standard chess but without the "your turn my turn" element.
