I love that idea!
Tournament Summary - Chess on an Infinite Plane

The link to players ratings (by Martin0) is below. It doesn't yet have result of (SuperSam vs. vickalan).

Tomorrow I'll post the rules for who is next eligible to challenge SuperSam1 for the crown. After the next challenge, the system will be decided by the Infinite Chess Federation.

Ok, SuperSam, our game is here. 😎

Before anyone plays SuperSam1 as a challenge for WC, I need to figure out who actually has priority to issue a challenge. The rule (from a while ago) is this:
"...the player with the highest score can challenge the champion. If this player is idle (not in a game) and does not challenge the champion within 7 days, then the qualifying contender with the next highest score can challenge the champion".
But when SuperSam1 won the crown, I'm actually not sure who is the highest rated player. Here is a screenshot from Martin's worksheet. But I don't think it includes Naviary's win over Yo-Thats-Fresh.
So before I say for sure who is challenging SuperSam1 for the crown, I need to figure out who gets priority to issue a challenge. If you guys can calculate the updated elo (after Naviary vs. Yo) then please let me know. Otherwise I'll need to wait for Martin0 to help out with this.
(in the meantime, games can continue - but whether it's for the WC crown or not is to be decided. Also btw, a WC who is challenged is allowed to finish one game before starting the actual challenge game).

I suggest sam plays nav for the crown, and the winner of that game plays the winner of me vs tomato, which is currently ongoing.
Here's hoping it doesn't take another six months. I'm 40 in February and I want to be world champion by then.

The top three players eligible to challenge WC @SuperSam1 are @HorribleTomato, @captaintugwash, and @Naviary.
Captaintugwash is suggesting that Naviary gets a shot at challenging SuperSam1.
Then the winner of "HorribleTomato vs. captaintugwash" (in progress here) will be next elligible to make a challenge for the crown.
No one else has a priority to issue a challenge so I agree with this sequence of games. If noboby protests by tomorrow, then lets proceed "SuperSam1 vs. Naviary" for a chance for Naviary to earn the title of World Champion!
This emblem can be pasted at the top of the game thread:
Will SuperSam1 be able to defend his title, or will fast-rising star Naviary steal the crown! This is a game to watch!😃

The game thread "SuperSam1 vs. Naviary" is (here).
The defending WC always plays White, so Naviary takes black. Good luck to both players!😄

...Here's hoping it doesn't take another six months...
lol...I need to play some more games, so I can qualify and challenge the eventual future World Champion (revenge on SuperSam1).😡 But these games can take sooo... long...….

@Naviary
is the current World Champion of "Chess on an Infinite Plane".
A brief review:
@SuperSam1 becomes the first WC by winning the first international tournament (also including HaleBopp, vickalan, Ulfednar1234, friedmelon, farmer2013, and silvertruck). The Final (SuperSam1 vs. vickalan) was a 169-move game which featured the loss of nearly all minor and major pieces, and victory was achieved by a tactical pawn race for promotion.
Soon after, @Naviary challenges Sam and wins. Naviary become the next (and current) World Champion.
In a separate qualifier, @captaintugwash and @HorribleTomato play for rights to be the next challenger. Tug has won and is qualified to challenge Naviary for the crown.
Naviary has the right to complete one in-session game before accepting a challenge from Tug.
Are both Tug and Naviary ready to play? Once the game date is started, I will start "Naviary vs. captaintugwash" to see if Naviary retains his title, or if the crown moves to the challenger.

How about I play all three of you and we go from there?
