1. Qc3 Qd2# The Troll's Checkmate I think!
Troll chess

Looks like the best idea is to play defensively, and keep both trolls in front of your King to use as shields against the opponent's trolls.
why not just Qxd7# first move
I would ajust the rules and say only other trolls can capture fellow trolls

Qxd7 is illegal under newengland's rules.

Txd7# as it should be annotated since the piece is a troll and not a queen, is highly illegal as d7 is occupied by an enemy troll which cannot be captured.

That's a good variant idea Ne7, but using Macer's strategy to not get checkmated would make some games very predictable.

This is actually pretty funny. It is worth noting that both trolls in front of both kings start the game pinned and cannot move until the kings move (such as castling). However, I don't see why the kings would ever want to move as behind the trolls is by far the safest place. Definitely not advisable for top level chess though as I'm sure those guys could analyse any opening to this position:

Return to our trolls (first diagram)! Not all is so horrible at our damned world. White Horse of course will defeat Black Jack and Sam Loyd knows how. But do you know how this works? So this game is degenerate but isn't a nonsense because it demonstrate intelligibly the extremely high importance of the fast development of pieces.
Okay, so the queens are no longer queens. They move the same but they are called the TROLL piece. They are invincible and cannot be taken even by other trolls.
Players start out with three of them though.
