Unusual but yet simple bishop for a new chess variant

When created a version of the old game courier chess ( or rather a version of modern chess with a courier chess set )

I got a simple idea to an unusual kind of bishop.

Like a normal bishop it must go to a square on the same diagonal that it stands on: But it get's there in an unsual way. In one move it most do the following: Go any number of squares orthogonally ( like a rook ) and then turn 90 degrees and go the same number of squares in the new direction so that it ends up on square on the same diagonal that same square it started it's move on.

The difference to the ordinary bishop of course is way it can be blocked. for example if want to move this kind of bishop from c1 to e3 it doesn't matter if d2 is empty or occupied what matters is if either the route c2, c3, d3 or the route d1,e1,e2 is free.

if we imagine a game played with this type of bishop intstead of the usual. It could easily be white to move. Black is not check because his king is protected by the pawns, but white can take the black knight via c5,b5,a5,a6,a7

In the game I created it plays aside with the usual bishop. But of course it could also be used on usual chess board instead of the orthodox bishop.

It is my guess that it is weaker than the usual bishop. What do you think.

Can anyone tell me if there is an official term for this piece

This piece is essentially different from a bishop, so my suggestion would be to give it its own name and shape.

You can in the link read about why called it bishop in the context where got the thought.

But I agree that it should have it's own name and shape. I really don't no what it shold be.

I thought there might be already a term for it. Since every piece that could relatively easy be thought of  and named seems to be thought and named.

It more or less exists in Maka dai dai shogi - see the Capricorn and the Hook mover.

This piece is reminiscent of the Sissa ( http://www.chessvariants.com/piececlopedia.dir/sissa.html ), which also slides along bent trajectories with equal legs. Only there it doesn't turn a 90-degree corner, but a 45- or 135-degree corner, starting as a Rook and continuing as a Bishop.
