Mm hmm. I’m still thinking about the chancellor... it’s actually a good peice
Hitthepin: NOOOOO!!!! How can I figure out ANYTHING!?!?
Everyone agrees pawn is one, right? Knights/guards are three (about), bishops are about 4, rooks are about six, hawks are around 6 as well, Chancellors are 9-10, queens are 10-15.
There are no standardised values. My values are based on the start, but the hawk is getting weaker as pawns are lost, the rook gets stronger, and the guard will be much stronger in a pawn endgame.
I suppose it helps to have starting values. As the game develops, part of the skill is evaluating the dynamic values of pieces. It's the same in classic chess, but to a much lesser degree.
This info was from my first post, but I've since upgraded my estimate for the hawk. I think it's more around 700 (based on HGMuller formula - see post #71).
I'm also not sure about the queen. My estimate may be low. The values shown by others might be closer. There's still a lot of unknowns about infinite chess.
