Why isn't Chess960 more popular?

And why doesn't it get more discussion? It's wonderful!

I think chess 960 is a great game and it brings a lot of new positions that you don't see in normal chess. And opening books are pretty much useless.

But I like to play correspondence chess, so my opponent and I can decide our moves on our own time, and think about moves carefully (not sloppy chess).

But chess960 can still be analyzed by chess engines because all the pieces are the same. I like to play chess games that can't be affected by computer play. Just throw in one or two weird pieces and the engines are pretty much useless (and games can have new tactical patterns). My favorite piece to add is the bulldog.

He's just a pawn, but pieces from it's army can pass right over it. Some people like to add really strong pieces like "the griffon which is a bird that can attack an elephant and fly away with it". And then there's the weird pieces, like the builder that moves however the opponent's last piece moved.

I'd love to offer a game to you but I'm already in a few (and losing some). But maybe in the future?happy.png

Chess960 helps with my chess skills. I'm not interested in any other variants.
