Winning streaks on a macro scale

      The title of Xiangqi Individual Champion of China has shown some interesting figures. Hu Rong Hua won the title 10 consecutive times from 1960-1979 ( a period when the tournament  for the title was only held once every 2 years. ) He managed to win the title again 4 more times, confirming his legendary status in the world of  Xiangqi .   He holds 2 additional records: The youngest champion, at 15( 1960) and the oldest champion, at 55 ( 2000). Other strong players only managed to score consecutive wins of 2 times.:Yang Guan Lin ( 1957 & 1958), Liu Da Hua , who is also expert at blindfold xiangqi, in 1980 and 1981, Lu Qin ( 2003,2004) and Cheng Wei-tong ( who spent 10 hours a day on perfecting his XQ skills) did it again in 2003 and 2004.

 For the female players, Hu Ming ( no relation of Hu Rong Hua ) won the title 5 times consecutively from 1990 to 1994 and then in 1986. A close second was Xie Si Ming, a total of five times : 1980, 1981-83 ( 3 times in a row) and then in 1987.

   In the area of  team games ( with provinces as the units ) from 1960 to 2002 ,   Guangdong stands out with 3 winning streaks ( 1980-82: 3 times in a row), 1987-89: 3 and then 1999-2002: 4 !. In women’s team game, there is a tie between Jiangsu ( 1997-1999 :3 ) and Hebei ( 2007-2009 :3).
