Commentators for PCL

I wonder how James Canty got picked to be a commentator. He is rated about 2300. Was there absolutely nobody else available who is better qualified?
He's a strong enough player (much stronger than most of the people in Twitch chat for instance) and has a strong fan base in the US. Outside the US though I really don't think he's anywhere near as popular. I'm really not a fan and whenever he's commentating/streaming I switch off. I would rather they pick someone who is less divisive, but for whatever reason chess.com seem to be really keen on promoting James Canty at the moment.
