GOTHAM FOR LIFE

I think it depends. GothamChess has informational videos like the grunfield defense and guess the elo. But hikaru has the raw calculation, reasoning with what he plays. He’s a super GM after all

They're both too loud, so I pass on both.

Hikaru is not that loud, unless you have 27 speakers hooked up.

For the serious player, Hikaru is better than Gotham. Hikaru won a tough game 9 (Norway tournament) against Fabi, and probably broke the guy's heart. Gotham is just not in the same league as GM's, as far as tips and analysis are concerned.

Super gm's*

Neither is good for learning chess, really.

For that I highly recomment GM Naroditsky's speedruns. Recommented for all rating levels 0-2000. Really explains well how grandmasters actually think.

And yes, sure, Naroditsky isnt a Super-GM like Hikaru. But Hikaru often doesnt explain what he is doing.

for most people ,both are deities and far beyond their understanding, for a normal class player, the difference between them is like choosing between Dionysus and Apollo. Both see things you cant fathom.
whats the difference between being a top 0.5% player and a top 0.05% player when you are in the 50th or even 70th percentile?
now for educational content, i would say neither. They are above all entertainers, thats why they waste time in curiosities instead of serious videos.

QFT.

For seriously learning chess, Hikaru recomments the speedruns by GM David "Danya" Naroditsky (for rating 0-2000). Which is why I keep recommenting them, too.

Also, Naroditsky simply has FAR FAR FAR less videos and thus they can be of much higher quality.
