i think having 'relatively' younger chess players at the top helps broaden the appeal of the game. In the world championship that will be played this November, both Carlsen and Nepo are 30 and playing some of the best chess of their lives. They also have fairly different styles so I think there will be less draws and more drama, while also having very strong and accurate moves being played. Sure many of the games may take over 5 hours to finish but many of the best tennis matches have been 3-4 hours long. I think it's a question of getting people to understand the rules and then they will enjoy seeing the players and going through analysis and entertainment provided by quality commentators. A lot goes into making chess a worthwhile spectator event but (in my opinion) it can be done in a satisfying way
