The original (correct?) form of pizza was essentially baked flatbread with sparse toppings, like drizzled oil, sprinkled salt, and sometimes sweet dates on it ...
It was also made without cheese. And without tomato sauce ... And certainly without pepperoni.
Just pointing out that pineapple on pizza is closer to its original form (such as with sweet dates) than a lot of people realize ... and that the modern form (with cheese and tomato sauce and such) is actually quite different than how pizza was originally intended.
NOPE! It's an abomination!
Two fun facts about pizza:
- In Italy, pizza does not come pre-sliced. You're served a whole pizza pie, and it's up to you to cut it up as you eat it, with a knife and fork.
- Also, if you order "pepperoni" in Italy, they will serve you bell peppers.
