Some better active communities to learn chess are some YT channels (Hanging Pawns, CCSCATL, etc), chess.stackexchange.com and studying old games on chessgames.com, apart from solving tactics puzzles and reading up basic theory.

@IMBacon: you helped the wrong kind. The ones who really want to improve won't ask for suggestions in the forums here where most posts are by idiotic kids begging for memberships while having <700 rating, almost no puzzles solved. I recall a member who had a gold membership gifted to them by someone and their profile had 0 games! ZERO! No solved puzzles either. Most of those people want membership just for show-off.
Which is why i only accept students in real life. Over the board, face to face. Online is a joke. You have to dig through to much BS to get to the real person.
True. Tbh, it's much more useful to have a coach train you rather than spending money on membership here. Rather than begging for membership, these guys could join a gifted daily tournament and win one. But I guess most of them don't have the skills or dedication for that.
I have wanted a coach for a while, but I think it's not much use till I hit 1600 blitz (5+3, mainly; I lose winning positions in 5+0 because I'm crap at flagging). Also, there's the fact that it's too costly. USD$40 ~ 3000 INR which is almost close to our 3-month electricity bill, lol

As useful as chess engines can be, they also cause just as much if not more harm.
Look at how many posts here on nonsense like: CAP scores, Accuracy, Percentages, Theory, etc. All misguided, and do nothing to help you improve.
Engines do not explain "why" Humans do.

Or if u don't then go to Lichess.org
Lmao, this comment will likely be deleted by moderation and account muted. Everyone knows about Li*****; we analyze our games and practice tactics there, after all. There's also CT which has a better tactics trainer (harder puzzles).
Lol, if you guys want to be beggars, at least beg for CT membership. It is loads better for improving.
What is CT?

"When people are doubting how far you will go, Go so far that you can't hear them anymore."
Ya, just be sure that you dont go far the other way

Engines do not explain "why" Humans do.
This.
Although, it could be argued that an engine "explains" why a certain plan or move is not good by showing a refutation line but you have to be tactically sharp enough to understand it, which is something engines can't help you with, but a coach can, by evaluating your strengths and weaknesses and giving you personalized exercises, and also teach strategical ideas which you can't learn just from grinding tactics all day.

What is CT?
I wonder if it's a "banned" word like the L-word here, but here goes: Ch***Tem**

I never said you couldn't become a good player. I am simply going by what i see on your profile. Dont just read what i post, comprehend it. Do not react emotionally. Think.
